It explores how far people will go to save themselves when the wealth that made the world become its most dangerous commodity, after a strange disease threatens to kill anyone with any kind of wealth. Rosamund Pike, Daniel Brühl, and Macaulay Culkin were originally cast. but all three dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Rosamund Pike was replaced by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, while Daniel Brühl was replaced by Rafe Spall.
