When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel , and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to star in the series, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted a "Harrison Ford type" and auditioned for people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least take it to Ford first, thinking that he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, generating interest from other notable actors.

First of all, as soon as I saw that Harrison Ford and Jason Segal were starring in it, I was already planning on watching it, but after reading all the positive reviews and watching the trailer, my excitement grew even more. I’m not saying it’s the best show of the year, but it’s an original, feel-good comedy that will make you laugh every episode.
