Narrative
Divine G, incarcerated at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose acting in a theater group alongside other inmates in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the actors audition for various roles in the play. The group has been criticized for not doing comedies, but their previous show was “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” which is a comedy.
The cast was outstanding
Featured on Late Night with Seth Meyers : Anna Faris/ Colman Domingo/Jose Medeles (2024). Blades composed by Bryce Dessner. Best movie I’ve seen in a long time.
Colman Domingo is amazing
The filmography is unique and really sets the tone. The plot was well thought out and paced well. I was very moved by this movie.
Definitely worth seeing on the big screen
The film is based on the true story of the Reformed Through Art theatre program in Sing Sing. Many characters are played by former members of the program. The emotional range of the characters in this film is extremely believable.
Just deeply charming
I was moved to tears several times during this film. This film is heartwarming and moving – exploring hope, grief, and redemption.
